Significance

Celebrates the Assamese New Year and the start of the sowing season. Of Assam's three Bihus, Rongali (Spring) is the most exuberant — colour, music, and youth courtship dances.

Seven days of Bihu dances, Husori processions through villages, bamboo construction of Meji bonfires, and communal feasting. The spirit festival of the Brahmaputra valley.

First-time visitor

Spend Day 1 (Goru Bihu) in a village, Day 2 at Latashil for the main performances, Day 3 at a traditional song circle.
